Virat Kohli's Thunder knock makes india to win the match with bonus point

Virat Kohli's Thunder knock makes india to win the match with bonus point

Pulling off a miracle and setting a new world record, India today won the tri-series one day international against Sri Lanka in Hobart by seven wickets and with 80 balls to spare gaining the much needed bonus point.

Playing with precision to get the bonus point, Virat Kohli smashed 16 boundaries and two sixes to reach 133 from 86 balls to keep alive the team's chances of reaching the tri-series finals being played in Australia.

Kohli's breathtaking assault and useful contributions from all the other top-order batsmen helped India get the bonus point. This is the ninth ODI ton for Kohli and his second against the Lankans.

Throughout the innings, India maintained an unbelievable and miraculous run-rate of 8.75 runs per over while chasing the Lankan score.

India made 321 for three wickets in 36.4 overs in response to the Sri Lankan score of 320 for four in 50 overs.

India will enter the finals if Australia beats the Lankans in their last league match. Australia, who are already through to the finals are leading the table with 19 points while Sri Lanka and India are tied on 15 points each. India has no more league matches to play while Sri Lanka has to play the last one.

Thrilling contest between India And Sri Lanka ends with tie

Good Game of cricket finally ends with tie

A spectacular finish was viewed by the Cricket fans in Australia, in the ODI between India and Sri Lanka. Cool Dhoni, who displayed good batting in the last overs.

The Fifth ODI in the Commonwealth Bank Series at the Adelaide oval saw the Sri Lankans fighting like fierce lions. But equally valiant were the Indians in the second half of the day. Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat. The batting prowess was too much for the Indian bowling attack. In the bowling department much commendable work was done by r Vinay Kumar who claimed three wickets. But neat bowling was done by R Ashwin who claimed two wickets. Again on the Lankans batting lineup, they did a tremendous leg work with L D Chandimal scoring the second highest in the match with 81 runs, just behind the Gautam Gambhir who smashed a magnificent 91 runs, while India batted in the second half of the day. M. Jayawardene helped the side with 43 runs. The Lankans wind up at 236 for nine wickets and set a good target to India.

In the second half of the game India played a brilliant knock, but it was the Lankans fielding that needed to be commended. The final overs batting of the Captain M S Dhoni who scored a brilliant 58, as the middle order collapsed, was worth the Man of the match award.  But unfortunately the match ended in draw giving both teams’ two points each. The Lankans bowling department created havoc on the Indian team. L. Malinga and T. Pereira claimed two wickets each, but it was Herath who controlled the batting with an excellent spell of 0-33 in 10 overs. India too wound up at 236 for nine wickets in the fifty overs and the match result was a draw.

India comprehensively won the match in Perth ODI

India comprehensively won the match in Perth ODI

Virat Kohli's fine half century combined with an all-round effort by Ravichandran Ashwin took India beat Sri Lanka by 4 wickets in the second ODI as they opened their account in the tri-series at the WACA in Perth. India, in pursuit of 234 to open their account in the tournament, were in control before three quick wickets threatened to derail the chase. However, Ravindra Jadeja and Ashwin kept the Sri Lankans at bay to take the team home. India finished with 234/6 in 46.4 overs.

Jadeja (24 not out, 28 balls, 1x4) and Ashwin (30 not out, 38 balls, 3x4) stayed together till the end for an unbroken 53-run partnership for the seventh wicket which proved decisive in India's triumph. Ashwin with three wickets earlier and runs with bat, won the Man-of-the-match award.

Kohli (77, 94 balls, 8x4, 1x6) has been a consistent performer while the team is chasing and it was yet again on view. The young right-hander showed great maturity in anchoring the run chase after the early loss of Virender Sehwag (10) in the third over. Sehwag was caught at third man by Nuwan Kulasekara of Lasith Malinga.

Kohli joined Sachin Tendulkar (48, 63 balls, 5x4) and the duo put the team on course for the not so difficult chase. Tendulkar was looking in good touch during his innings and looked set for a big knock. But he played an Angelo Mathews delivery onto the stumps falling two short of a half century.

Rohit Sharma (10) fell to a short ball trying to guide the ball past point but was snapped up by Tillakaratne Dilshan. Left-hander Suresh Raina fell again to a short ball. And MS Dhoni too succumbed to a short ball from the Sri Lankans.

At 167/5 in 33.4 overs at the exit of Dhoni, Indian hopes rested on Kohli's shoulders. The Delhi batsman was suffering from cramps but carried on his innings. However, attempting to take a non-existent single to mid-on, he failed to beat Malinga's direct hit. All first five wickets came off short balls for the Islanders.

Sri Lankan camp was jubilation at the sight of Kohli's wicket with the team in more than a spot of bother at 181/6 in 36 overs. But India were always maintaining a good run rate and that helped the lower order to bat out few dot balls.

Ashwin, joining hands with Jadeja at the fall of sixth wicket, proved his worth once again as a batsman to steer India towards victory.

Second odi between India and srilanka heat over to Perth

2 nd odi between India and srilanka heat over to Perth

The Team India bowlers did a good job to stop the Sri Lankans from making huge totals, which they planned to.  In the second Commonwealth Bank Series ODI, India takes on Sri Lanka at Western Australia Cricket Association Ground, Perth in Australia on Wednesday. Both the teams have just gone into the dressing room after the first innings. The first innings was dominated by both the Lankan batsmen and the Indian bowlers. Lankans won the toss and elected to bat.

The Lankans played tremendously well and were fully controlling the game, but the Indian bowlers intermittent showers ruined their wickets resulting in 233 runs at the end of fifty overs, for 8 wickets. The batting was powered by L D Chandimal, who was stumped by the Indian skipper, scored 64 runs and followed by 48 by T M Dilshan. In the end A D Mathews made a blistering knock of 33 runs and remained not out.

In the bowling fronts India’s R Ashwin completed a neat spell of ten overs at an average of 3.20 run rate and grabbed three wickets of the oppositions. His efforts were coupled by his senior Zaheer Khan who grabbed another two of the Lankan wickets. The catch of Tharanga taken by Sachin was worth mentioning about the agility of the veteran master blaster.  But much is expected of him and the other batsman in the latter half of the game, which has just begun.

Team India looses in first ODI, due to D/L Method

Team India looses in first ODI, due to D/L Method

DWL claims Team India in Common Wealth Bank series against the Australians at the Melbourne cricket club in the day night ODI on Sunday. After winning the toss India elected to field. The Australians who started the innings in a dull weather were three down for a meek 49 runs. Then debutant Wade invaded the stadium, with his blistering knock of 67 runs. Later MEK Hussey joined DJ Hussey and made a splendid knock of 45 runs and 61 runs respectively. The Australians scored 216 runs for 5 wickets, in 32 overs as the match was down sized by Duck-Worth Lewis method due consistent drizzling. R Vinay Kumar from Karnataka over shinned in the bowling department claiming three wickets.

Not enough with the bat, Wade the debutant wicket keeper damaged the Indian side by stumping India’s brilliant opener Gautam Gambhir in the fourth over and later claimed Rohit Sharma’s wicket too. But the main damage was initiated by Ponting who caught the Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar, unaware, in the second over. Sachin as usual disappointed his fans with a meek two run contribution. Indians wind up meekly at 151 in the thirtieth over itself. The win was delivered to the hosts in a platter by the guests as usual. Bowler CJ McKay was the hero in his department and claimed 4 wickets.

The man of the match was none other than the debut wicket keeper who played a brilliant game, without exhaustion. In the tri nation series team India meet Sri Lanka at Perth tomorrow.
