Leander Paes Sets Eye On Olympics In England
India's most celebrated Grand Slam champ Leander Paes is all set and conscious about claiming his second Olympic medal for the tennis doubles at London. The ace tennis player had earlier won an Olympic bronze medal in singles in 1996 Atlanta. While chatting to media on Friday, he said that was the main reason for the split with his long time partner Mahesh Bhupathi. The prospects would better if a pair of younger legs joined, felt the 38-year-old player.
"My next aim is to try and seal the Olympic medal in doubles. It would be the epitome of my career. Also want to complete a career Grand Slam in Mixed Doubles," said Paes, who became the first Indian to complete a career Grand Slam by winning the Australian Open men's doubles title last week. "I want to win the medal for my flag and my people," Paes was quoted as saying by NDTV.
Paes was also frank in aspiring to win a mixed doubles grand slam, in his career. Paes, lost the Australian Open mixed doubles final with Russian partner Elena Vesnina. "I also want to complete a career Grand Slam in mixed doubles," he said. [ with the inputs from internet and andhrawishesh]
