BCCI start to breaks with Sahara India

            Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) at last seems to have got off its high pedestal and expressed interest in discussing long impending issues with Sahara India. The development came to light after the mighty financial giant on February 04 decided to restrain from the IPL auction held in Bangalore. The giant seemed to be dejected with the whims and fancies of the former since its first sponsorship deal in 2001 but largely relating to the IPL franchise of Pune Warriors.


           BCCI President N Srinivasan on Monday admitted that the relationship between the BCCI and Sahara was over a decade and of course with ups and downs. But a meeting on a table would end the dispute. "Most certainly, we are ready to meet and sort out the matters. We have no problems with that. We do appreciate what Sahara have done. They might have felt aggrieved and did not get what they wanted from the IPL. We had good relationships and so we should sort out the issues," Srinivasan said.


          In its formal statement, Sahara referred to several points of dispute with the BCCI, dating back to its first sponsorship deal in 2001 but largely relating to the IPL. It said it would "continue paying the sponsorship money" to the BCCI for a period of "2-4 months" it would take to find a new sponsor.


          Though, initially BCCI gave Luke warm responses to the statement. But with actual statistics in the fore front, BCCI felt the best way to sort out the dispute at the earliest would be a better alternative. Sahara is yet to respond on the BCCI’s request.
